Anyplace in a Storm by Aikurisu Anyplace in a Storm by Aikurisu
Illustration depicting the shield carrier Erageden, anchored for repairs at a nearby resource asteroid, some time after it successfully managed to run through an orbital blockade that was set by an Alliance fleet to capture a certain VIP onboard. The resource asteroid in itself is independently run by an imperishable cartel that maintains peace outside true Alliance jurisdiction. Thankfully for the Erageden's crew, it’s one of the last well supplied neutral ports in the Eredium Nebula that manages to maintain some sense of security from pirates and Alliance interests alike... for the right price of course.

<==========================================={}--------

I was in the middle of drawing Aina Saharin for the last couple of days, before I had the urge to punch my monitor, (don’t ask… ) so to make a long story short, I decided to draw something that did click with me and… presto! Done within two days, with the exception of some basic lineart I had in WiP storage for a few months. Glad I was able to hold off on completing it, because with a couple more tricks I learnt with PS not too long ago, this came out better than expected…

Comments and such always appreciated. Enjoy. =)

Thanks, Julia. :hug:

Hmm... never really bothered to play Freelancer, but I was quite fond of its predecessor, Starlancer. =)

Great use of silhouette and color. Reminds of the mining asteroid at the beginning on Titan A.E.

Hmm... I need to watch that again. (To think I bought the DVD but only watched it twice when it was on cable before I bought the DVD... XD) After I completed this work, the one thing I was sorta reminded of was a scene in Macross II, of a Marduk ship on a red backdrop... I think. All seems vague to me now, though.

Space, with it's infinite axis, has GOT to be a challenge when trying to dock a ship.

Nah, they'd just need a good Conning Bridge crew. Although I know what ya mean. =D

Beautiful work - excellent capture of the idea that there is no "up" in space. :)

Only punch old monitors... not new ones =P

That looks really sweet mate, interesting lighting and nebula effects... and battle damage. For some reason the ship and particularly the mining outpost puts me in mind of the old "Spacebase2000" stlye of designs.

Thanks, mate! Yet Spacebase2000? For some reason that's the first I've ever heard of that one. o_0

lol, and if only I drew this 10 times as big... (Yeah, that'd probably kill me!) the little lights around the damaged sections of the Erageden are supposed to be maintenance crews at work with help from repair units similar to the collectors from HW2.

There was a copy of it in our highschool library. I read it so often I just about wore the text of the pages. I swear, if you check it's library card for the years I was at the school, just about every second name on it will be mine =P

Judging from the cover of the book, I'd probably have read it a lot as well; where after your name, mine would have been next every time. =P
