In the final years of the Mad War, two souls bonded in the shadows of darkness sweeping across the once blessed lands of the Ailyrian Kingdom. The last child of the noble Kaethyr bloodline, Evaryr, fought for the survival of his people and from the shadows worked against the delirious appetite of Phoenix King Meiliketh the Mad. Evaryr worked against his own kin in the hope of restoring peace to his people's lost kingdom. He never sought the deaths of those loyal to his evil, godless king, yet a day came when his work among the shadows could no longer protect his greatest love from death.

Kalysia. The day came when her existence was no longer needed at Prince Imrek's side. She defied Imrek's father one too many times and, with her final treachery on the night the Mad King willed the deaths of a thousand Yavirys innocents, asleep in their rebellious province's beds, she almost welcomed the grim release of death to no longer know the touch of those whose minds were lost to sin.

She fought those who once protected her by Imrek's order, sent to her bedchambers to make sure she never saw another sunrise. She fought, yet she was destined to die without her secret lover's keen blades by her side. Fortunately, Evaryr finally chose to reveal himself as one of Meiliketh's enemies, showing himself with his anger drawn at his kingdom's heart like a fearless man possessed. Those who fought him there were of little match against the Son of Kaethyr and were helpless to stop him from rescuing his love and took her with him deep into an ancient forest amidst heavy rain.

Yet they were not alone in their escape, for Meiliketh foresaw it and sent his two demented pets that had long served as both his secret, depraved lovers, and weapons of assassination. The Twins.

Unfortunately for them, no one was taking Kalysia's life in those times. They would die knowing that, knowing the wrath of her love, her guardian.
