Description

(For anyone interested, this is now available as a print!  Let me know if you get one, any wall photos would be great!)

It was of little interest to the Jedi Order at the time. At least that was until a Jedi Watchman went missing in the primitive Outer Rim world of Haedyr IV. His last message to Coruscant detailed his contact with a native tribe there; natives that were humanesque yet alien enough that they were seen as exotic trophies to slavers and their clients.

The Jedi Watchman assigned to the minor sub-sector Haedyr IV was a part of thought of the natives with curiosity too. Although he had only been recently assigned to the area, he drew to the conclusion that the Haedyrians showed promise in being force-sensitive creatures. The elders of the tribe he befriended were indeed supporters of this theory, however, in his mind he found it odd that there was no one among their younger offspring that exhibited a similar strong connection to the Force, or ‘Vylaar’, as they so called it.

That was until he learnt more about one of their tribal myths that had seemingly came back to reality. Legend spoke that in centuries past the native Haedyrians were at war with predators they deemed a wicked harpy race. To them, the harpies were cruel, ill-tempered creatures that abducted those in the tribe who showed a stronger presence in Vylaar than others, and showed a particular interest in those of them who were male. As the myth vividly depicted, the harpies mated with them while ignoring the Haedyrian females, whom knew they would in time give birth to more males for them to abduct-- thus creating alike a symbotic circle the harpies relied on for survival... or at least to sate their will.

Fearful that they had returned, the tribe begged for the Watchman to slay them. It was in his last message to Coruscant that he intended to study the nature of the harpies and track down their nest, yet it was the last anyone heard of him. That was when the Jedi Order sent another among their kin to find out what happened. That was when they sent Kaen Fey to such a primitive, forgotten planet. What he did not expect to find there was the true face of the harpies the Haedyrians were fearful of. A face he knew all too well.

They were right to be fearful of them. Determined, Kaen was going to learn why they were there, one way or another...

I’m finally tapping a little more into Nimaera’s capabilities. That said, I have to say this art would have been impossible to draw on my old PC. Yet was it worth it?

Anyhoo, just so you know, the Jedi wins. =P Comments and such welcome and much appreciated as always!

Should I look into detailing the story behind this piece some more? I'm tempted to flesh out Kaen's story, since I intend to make him part of TOR's timeline/lore.
