Although Siaisa was not a sentinel among her kin during the Long Vigil, she nonetheless acquired the weapon of one, when she was part of the town watch that protected the humble fishing village, AluSaena. Some say it was for her friendliness with the original wielder, who came upon her village with order to bolster the skill of the watch and seek new blood to train for the sentinel army. What her relationship was to Siaisa, few can only fathom, but a mutual respect was known between them.
With this in mind, Siaisa might have became a sentinel with her support and guidance. The two had often scouted together, among other things, yet their friendship was cut short one unforgettable night when the two were separated against a roaming demon foe they attempted to slay together. Yet unfortunately for the sentinel, who had simply underestimated her enemys skill, she became its victim in way only Siaisa ever truly witnessed before she was able to finish what her defeated friend started.
Still, it was a hollow victory. The sentinels life was its cost. Siaisa was shattered for it and returned home with naught but her fine bow passed down to her. In many ways the sentinels death changed Siaisas fate that day; the largest of them was her lost interest in becoming a sentinel herself. Instead she remained in the town watch, which kept her content for many years, though the death of her friend remained a constant memory in the back of her mind and forced her many times to solemnity.
By the time the Burning Legion returned and forced the kaldorei back into the world, Siaisa used the sentinels bow right up till she was maimed while protecting her village. No one really knows what happened to it after then. Some say it was taken as a spoil of war by Archimondes minions, whom were responsible for her aggrieved bed rest, while others say it was destroyed or abandoned where she fell, to Ashenvales mercy. With it the sentinel's memory faded more from Siaisa's material possessions...
I know, back to morbid storytelling though at least it draws more light on Siaisas past before she leapt back to life shortly after WC3s era. Still, it was more of an excuse to draw a night elf weapon concept heh. Honestly, I feel kinda miffed that they didnt really get any true racial gear in WoW, while on the other hand the Blood Elves got a host of stuff dedicated to them. Bah if only Blizzard had the weapon/armour concept artists from say the likes of Guild Wars... I might actually be still playing the game simply out of respect for it. But then we know that'll probably never happen, since WoW will remain... well, yeah.
Amazing detail. I love how it's ornate but speaking as someone who loves traditional archery,it's nice to see artists who remember to make a bow functional as well as beautiful.
Thanks for the kind words. And agreed. It's one of the reasons I tend to favour simpler/starter bow designs in games, since usually when something becomes 'epic', it somehow loses its practicality in the exchange.
