Little Interloper

There are so few places in Estyria’s wilds where Vera can enjoy a moment’s peace to herself and soak away days of sweat and exhaustion. One place became her favourite habitat for certain centuries; admired for its natural seclusion, cleanliness and closeness to fresh bounty, she chose this area of rest with the protection of a deep waterfall cave. It was there she knew her body was safe from the dangers of predators and sins of the past, sleeping peacefully to the endless sound of water flowing, masking her scent like a curtain blessed with the Creator’s protection over her and her possessions.

It was also where she drank and bathed in the unspoiled privacy of a swimming hole near the mouth of her cavernous dwelling. Yet there were times that privacy was at sighful odds with a local native who liked to share it and boast about. A secret admirer, as Vera came to believe, in the shape of a brave little thing that never knew when to give a female her space. Such was the life of one... frog.

No, it’s not the Frog Prince, but I’m sure Vera wishes her little companion was something... taller.

And thus an amusing, if not bizarrely rare, mascot character is born from my world. XD I haven’t thought of a name for it yet, although it’s a near promise that this little guy has earned his place among the not-so-well-known pantheon of original animals in my universe that otherwise have not really been mentioned beyond that really old, amateurish fiction I was writing years ago... which was abandoned.

Anyway! This year is going to be different, I swear! That and this artwork is a warm-up for something in particular for my female watchers... soonish. Maybe. >_>;;
