During the reign of Phoenix King Saul the Merciful, it is written that his third son, Aaeren, journeyed to the lands of Zerran to secure a trade agreement that solidified the export of a plant-born aphrodisiac to Ailyrenais shores. Yet while Aaerens stay in the desert lands was intended to be short-lived after the agreement was settled, romantics far and wide believe he never left them, thanks to being seduced by a zaira of kyrathi origin. Some say Aaeren was so enamoured with the woman that he renounced his blood right to his peoples throne and lived in exile with her as his mate.
Yet as a token of his renouncement, it is oft believed that Aaeren had forged a blade in the likeness of his beloveds grace and sent it to his family in Ailyrenai as a parting gift that brought a new style of blade forging in those lands. As it was, the weapon he made was in fact two identical blades that could be joined together at their pommels, to create a glaive; a design believed prominent in early kyrathi bladedancing culture. In turn, the nelri adopted it into their own bladedancing, thanks to Aaerens gift.
Another nelri blade concept, inspired by kyrathi origins. Was fun to create and only took the last few hours; not counting the time I put into thinking of the lore behind it. I know... it's taken me a while to bring out something new, but I've got a few in the WiP phase... so nyah! Comments and such welcomed as always.
This is, frankly, amazing. It looks so real, I feel like I could reach out and touch it. (To be honest, when I spotted it in my search results, I thought it was a prop!)
I love that you've put lore behind it as well, instead of just saying that it's something you've created. It gives the whole thing a sense of realism I don't think I would have gotten. (not to mention that it was a really good piece of writing!)
