Omega Sword and Elk Shield by Aikurisu Omega Sword and Elk Shield by Aikurisu
Long ago, a holy weapon was given upon the mortal woman, Sophitia, by the Greek god of forge, Hephaestus. Known as the Omega Sword, this implement of battle was made by Hephaestus himself using sacred ore, which had divine properties. However, during the young maiden’s clash with the dread pirate, Cervantes de Leon, it sustained heavy damage and was retrieved by Hephaestus after the battle. For this, Sophitia had left on her second quest against the violent stirrings of Soul Edge with a replica of the original, along with the Elk Shield; both weapons forged by the blacksmith, Rothion, who Sophitia became betrothed to after her second quest had come to an end.

Hephaestus gave Rothion holy ore which he used to make both these new weapons. And after Sophitia returned from her second quest, the weapons were put on an altar as tribute to the gods. And four years later Cassandra stole the Omega Sword for use in her journeys against Soul Edge, but the weapon was cracked during that adventure. Yet when Sophitia started on her third journey, Rothion repaired the sword for her.

Now… I know I’m hardly ever inclined to drawing fanart, (which is usually very justifiable! XD) but when you’re scouring the internet for signs of good weapon reference, you know something’s amiss when you can’t really find anything worth saving from a fighting game based on weapon combat. So here we are! Sophitia’s lasting main weapons from the Soul Blade/Calibur series, and you could say that this is a taste for things to come, for I may make a small hobby on drawing a few more pieces of fanart dedicated to weapon designs in the anime/gaming worlds that have left impressions on the good side with me. Heck, someone needs to…

Originally used by a hero (Sophitia), now used by her whinny daughter who won't shut the fuck up and stop crying (Pyrrha)

lol, I've pretty much given up on the Soul series now, so in my opinion IV and V are a bad dream, nothing more. The story ended with III on a high note instead.

It's okay. Many people complain about the new characters in V, but I honestly don't care.

Eh, I actually don't mind the new characters. Sure, they're not as noteworthy as those who have existed in the series since the beginning, but I think what maims my love most for the Soul series is Namco's obsession with online gaming that they've pretty much forgotten what made the Soul series great in the first place. It had a story and it was memorable. Not anymore.

I mostly focus on gameplay. Except when using Pyrrha, because SHE WILL NOT STOP WHINNING! Don't believe me? Find a clip of her fighting and tell me she isn't annoying.

I think, gameplay wise, SC3 and those before it were much more fun and had a lot of offer. This whole debacle where Namco is focusing on online content pretty much spits in the face of every fan who used to love the series for its single player content. What's worse is that it's hard to say which is better between SC4 and SC5 on that note. Both have terrible SPC, and while it was mediocre at best in SC4, at least there was a watered down story mode. SC5 on the other hand tries to pretend that our favourite characters should be the new cast... like Pyrrha... and that ninja girl who's some sort of abomination of Taki, after she was raped by Naruto.

Although I will admit a few of the characters are interesting due to style mixing, it's annoying that they would get rid of most of the cast due to time.

Yeah, I was really hoping for an adult Talim to show up. I mean, seriously. She would have been the perfect age for SC5's timeline!

Might be a little difficult to wield with a shield in the other hand...

absolutely stunning! I've never played soul caliber but the designs are fantastic! this far surpasses mere fan art, this is what it was meant to be!

Thanks for the kind words. =D

lol, maybe Namco would be interested in hiring a new weapons concept artist... but truth is I'd probably get fired quickly afterward. I'd probably be prone to beating them around the heads a couple of times for some of the things they've come up with of late. XD

I never really got the hang of Sophitia's (or Cassandra's) fighting style. I still loved their characters, though.

lol, indeed. I'm kinda the same way too. Love the characters and I don't mind their fighting styles to a point, but it's hard to pace them against say Siegfried and Mitsurugi's styles. They have a much better flow to work with, and their different stances make them stand out in terms of class.

You win! you win so hard!

In fact...if you had an ingredients label it would say,
Ingredients: Win, Awesome, Groovy, Talent, Green Dye 14.

Dye 14???
