Portrait - Fenelan II

Again, it seems like I’m making up for lost time here. XD

Character is of an early era, ebony skinned nelri. The first generations of the race fully expressed this skin tone, till selective breeding within noble cylisuri houses brought about the first signs of whiter flesh to the species. In later centuries, few ebony nelri existed, and by the time space travel was feasible, it was thought the purest form of the ebony line was extinct, til scientists successfully extracted unmodified living egg cells from an abandoned cryo station. With them, bloodlines from centuries long past were restored, and were fully conceived from living fenelan at the time, due to the Phoenix Empire’s strong abhorrence for genetically altered test tube babies and, of course, cloning.

Anyhoo, I wanted to go for that earthly tribal look that I did draw once before for a huntress illustration, back in April, 2006. Main fun was definitely found in drawing the eyes, but overall, this was a treat to create. Took me a little beyond 2 days.
