Interesting change in styles you've made with this one, lighter colours and bolder, more defined line work and brush strokes. It makes things look a little more "painted" a little more 2D. For some reason, where the sleeves are fading into the page it reminds me very much of a Canson paper rendering.
I like it... a lot.
Glad you like how this turned out, mate. I agree with your points, too. Anything that looks more 'painted' sounds like a great path to me.
