Even though the Ishian Civilisation was built upon magic, most, if not all, of its denizens were keen in the art of physical combat and understood that it was both essential to their people's wellbeing and survival in their culture. This was arguably after a charge was instigated into their society that all Ishians of pure blood were to be well versed in arms and martial prowess. This bladed staff stands as a testament to such, and was likely wielded by an adept in magic, sometimes forged by themselves, yet always interwoven with runic magic, to aid them in casting spells, learned, natural or otherwise.

During the reign of first Phoenix King, Rothelim the Farseer, it is noted that few of these weapons were taken as spoilers of war by his armies raiding the Northern Limits. This particular one rests in a house of one in the Elder Circle; standing as a fascinating, if not cruel reminder of what their finest foes of that era branded against them.

Anyhoo, fastest artwork to date. Done in less than 3 hours… which is... unusual.

Since we are becoming friends--in a sense--I'm going to be honest with you. It seems a bit impractical. Now, seeing as I read your story, you said that those adept in magic wield these--that may be to your benefit. You see, what makes it seem impractical to me is the staff part of the weapon--would you want to hold that? Talk about cutting palms. However, since we are talking about those adept in magic, maybe they cast some sort of shield over the weapon's staff to protect their hands--who knows? You wrote the story.

Anyway, my honest opinion. If I wasn't such a stickler for detail, I would tell you that the head piece is amazing. I love how you made it so that no matter how the weapon is swung, the enemy will be hit by a point, or a sharpened end.

It is not what might be lurking in the dark that I am afraid of; it is what I know is not in it.

Hatred that festers within the soul for countless ages will be released in a way unspeakable.

Those living for death, will die by their own hands

your designs get better with each concept :) I like this elegance of weapons, beautiful yet deadly :D

this reminds me of the style and look of many of the weapons my brother, ~PrinceAtokOfBasil tends to draw and conjure up :D the sweeping blades and runic designs as well as of course the spear/staff design ....very lovely :D

Thanks! And actually, there's only one part of the staff that could be deemed sharp to the wielder, and that's between where his or her hands would be situated holding the weapon. (And suddenly you just gave me an interesting idea for a new type of weapon on that note...) Otherwise the handle is somewhat comfortable to wield, despite the jaggedness down its span, and is meant that way to provide a natural grip, aside from the artistic merit involved.

lol, and must admit I'm a bit of a fan of Zasalamel's weapon of choice in the Soul Calibur series. Not because it's a scythe, but because he has some decisively painful moves that he uses with the other end of it. I like how a weapon isn't just restricted to hurting someone with one end... hehe.

Thanks! lol, I've got a thing for staves and axes right now too, so there will be more of their like to come. I feel I can work better with their designing than swords. =)
