Space Battle - 01 by Aikurisu Space Battle - 01 by Aikurisu
The Goliath Class 2 'ANS - Geradeth' comes under heavy concentrated fire, in the Guild of Shadows' desperate attempt to destroy it, (or at least cripple it...) before the vessel could come in range of firing its main cannon at their forward command ship. (With dire results, of course. It's like a mini Macross cannon.)

Three sci-fi works in a row? What is this world coming to? =P

This wasn't what I was exactly striving for, but I'm kinda happy with how it came out, despite the fact. I originally wanted to draw an all out fleet war, but I realised the angle I was trying to work with for this was a little too constricting to involve more than a couple of ships. Eh, I don't think I'm quite ready yet to draw something on more of an epic scale anyway, but this sure was good practice. Took roughly 6 hours. No reference.

I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate...

It looks great, the cold blue hue of space contrasts with the fierce action taking place but compliments it at the same time. Very cool.

Thanks, mate! Heh, nice Blade Runner quote, btw. =P

And if you're interested, the cold blue hue was mostly made up of a single solid layer. It was experimental, but I created it from an almost cerulean like colour, then just switched its normal setting to Pin Light. Worked like a charm and blended the black lineart of the main ship to the background. I had coloured other parts of the art independently with blue layers, but the cerulean layer made it complete.

I love it. The lasers give an amazing effect to it and make the whole thing pop.
