Lovers - II

“Remember the time we first met?  I was masquerading as a noble lady of some long dead house, and you--”

“A bane.  You were tending to a mare in the main courtyard-- a Zerranish purebred, I believe.  Palomino, right?”

“Trust you to be more interested in what I was petting, dear.  … but yes, when I saw you ride quietly in on your trusty steed I could not help but stare.  Now there was a deeply mysterious man, with a gaze that could silence a room.  I knew then and there I had to know more about you, my own reasons for being in Naamor be damned.  Even if I betrayed my character, those times I used to watch you from afar as you trained half naked in the snow made me want to reach out and drag you back to my chambers in front of that lovely fireplace we knew so, so well together.  I’m sure you can imagine the rest of the details from there.”

“You?  Against your will?  Perish the thought.”

“I know!  Of course, we were younger back then.  I seem to recall you being less--”

“Out of curiosity, is there a point to this discussion?”

“Oh, yes.  Remember when you called me a lioness?”

“I still do.”

“Well… I asked you once that if that were the case, were you my lion?”

“I distinctly recall denouncing that, saying that some saw me more as a bear.”

“Mmm, not hairy enough.  Besides, you have more the temperament of a cat.  Aloof, independent.  Instinctively cerebral.  Has a perchance to gaze out windows for long hours…”

“... is this where I’m supposed to ask if you’re ready for more?”

“Naturally.”

Let’s start the new year with a bang, shall we?  (Yeah, har, har…)

I’ve been meaning to draw Klaus and Shae again for awhile now, promising more couple art for them since late last year.  So… now that I have?  Expect more.  Given I’m returning to writing for Shadows of Naamor, which follows the story involving their first encounter, it’s fair to say this year will be devoted more to them.  Here’s hoping I can stay on target!
