Tears of Nimaera

Description

Long ago, when the Three Sisters were alive in their beautiful mortal shells, there is the myth where the youngest among them, Nimaera, spirit of the Blue Moon, watched from afar the evil many of her nelri people faced, at the hands of the kyrathi and vile monsters lead by their goddess of lust, Veszena. And while Nimaera and her sisters were not involved personally in the battles of that era, at their concerned parent’s behest, it is said that Nimaera withdrew to the challenged heart of their grieving lands.

It was there she was said to have draped herself over a marble basin and wept for days, before she called upon her closest handmaidens to bring before her presence the more sickly and mortally wounded of their peers for healing. Thus it is told that the water goddess brought them before the marble basin, now filled from her tears, and used it to cleanse their many ailments. And so were Nimaera’s healings known thereon throughout all Ailyrenai, and begot the Healers of Nimaera, water elementalists.

Though it is true such healing powers were never available to mere mortals, there are those who say not all of Nimaera’s tears were exhausted during that time, and that the goddess herself beckoned her closest handmaidens again to seal the remainder of it in vials she then had sent safely to her siblings and parents both, including those around them whose lives were far too valuable to lose in the war. It wasn't long thereafter that they became known as elixirs of life some wore around their necks.

Thousands of years later, several of these vials still exist. Lady Kalysia was given one in secret by a Priestess of Nimaera, as a show of faith the prime consort of Imrek truly needed in those days-- some say as a symbolic gesture that the Three Sisters still wept for their disorientated followers. It is uncertain if Kalysia ever used any of the potion, yet there are indeed several tales that insinuate that she had for reasons many a romantic bard's voice have spread. Those tales are best left for another day...

Something a little different, and pretty fun. When I get my epic comp, I may try my hand at creating a more detailed illustration of the potion’s cap, which is an artful depiction of Nimaera. (That and drawing illustrations of the other two goddesses as well...)

Anyhoo, comments and such welcome as always. Hope ya like. =)
